Young & Restless’ Matt Goes On the Run: Is Roger Howarth’s Arc Finished Already?
From the beginning, we suspected that Roger Howarth’s turn as Young & Restless’ resurrected Matt might be short-lived. After all, one
need only look at the history of the character to conclude that Matt wasn’t likely to have been redeemed during the period in which he was
supposedly dead. The man who assaulted Sharon years ago quickly proved that he hadn’t changed his ways, eventually being unmasked as a drug dealer.
Well, maybe not so fast. Because when Mitch sped away, he could be heard vowing this wasn’t over. And according to sources at the show, we definitely have not seen the last of Howarth or his villainous alter ego. In fact, there are more than a few twists left to explore where this particular tale is concerned.
It sounds as if the Newman clan might want to postpone celebrating that whole good-triumphing-over-evil thing. But we’re left to wonder just how long Howarth’s latest soap stint will last. Although Mitch/Matt would seem to be a tough character to keep around long, let’s not

Not exactly what one would consider the makings of a longterm character. (Sure, General Hospital’s Sonny has spent decades on the front burner, but he’s a good mobster, whereas Matt/Mitch is clearly a bad guy.)
So when Victor unleashed AI on Mitch’s Shadow Room empire — complete with a “victory is mine!” fist bump, it seemed safe to assume that the day had been saved and the baddie vanquished. (You can read a recap of the action-packed episode here.) Their calamity-filled time in Los Angeles coming to an end, our favorite Genoa City characters are free to return to their lives. Right?
